Speaking in his weekly general audience in St. Peter's Square just one day after launching his global Jubilee year of mercy, the pontiff said that "only a merciful church shines."

All the churches today the13th December, opened the "Door Of Mercy" inviting the Faithful to bear witness to Christ's Merciful Face through their daily struggles. There will be a series of events organised by the steering committee for the Year of Mercy through various Apostolates calling the faithful to experience the Merciful Love of God.
